History.
The wheeled lyre, or Hardy-Gardy, originated in medieval Europe and was popular among minstrels and the aristocracy. Its melodies are often called ‘medieval rock and roll’.
Construction
The model includes a body, gears, crown, neck, strings and a keypad. The reduction mechanism provides a smooth sound, and the six keys make it easy to play. The bourdon string can be switched off for a cleaner sound.
Assembly.
The kit contains all the necessary parts to easily remove from the plywood boards. Assembly takes 4-5 hours and does not require glue or special tools.
Setting up and playing
The main string is responsible for the melody and the bourdonne for the background. Six keys represent the notes of the octave. The set comes with rosin to lubricate the wheels. It is easy to play different styles of music on the Hardy-Gardy, from folk to modern.
‘Hardy-Gardy is a unique musical instrument you can assemble and enjoy playing. It's a great way to spend time with family and friends making music together.
