Pysanka is not just an ornament, but a language of generations. Each line, symbol and colour has its own meaning, and the art of painting them is carefully passed down from master to student, from grandmother to grandson. Ukrainian Easter eggs are not just an Easter tradition, but a real cultural treasure that unites the whole country.

One of those who plunged deeply into the world of pysanky making and left an invaluable legacy was Taras Horodetskyi (1964-2006), an engineer by profession but an artist at heart. His pysankas, based on ancient symbols and his own interpretations, impress with their depth of meaning and sophistication of execution. Over almost a decade and a half of his career, he has created thousands of unique pysankas that have spread all over the world, carrying a piece of the Ukrainian soul.

The puzzle you are holding in your hands is based on the ornament from the book ‘The World in Taras Horodetskyi's Pysanky’ compiled by pysanky maker Vira Manko. Some elements of the ornament have been adapted specifically for the puzzle, preserving the spirit and symbolism of the original, but in a form that is accessible and understandable to children and adults.

This is not just a wooden puzzle – it is an invitation to a conversation about heritage, about Ukrainian identity, about the magic of signs that we carry in our hearts. Putting together this puzzle is a great way to dive into the world of folk art with your children, understand the depth of symbols and spend time in the warmth of family communication.

Feel the power of tradition through play. Preserve, learn, pass on.
